What is TCM?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a holistic system of medicine that recognizes an equilibrium within our body and our environment.  Through the use of acupuncture, Chinese herbs, nutrition and massage,  health issues are addressed for each individual based on their unique needs for re balancing.

There are more than 2,000 acupuncture points identified on the body. Current ongoing  research has confirmed the location of many of these points.  In order to restore balance and help the body maintain health, various combinations of these points are stimulated using very fine, disposable needles.  Acupuncture has successfully been used for thousands of years to cure  many health problems with minimal side effects.

Many  studies world wide have confirmed that the use of the needles encourages the release and circulation of many chemicals in the body such as endorphins and opiates which help to reduce pain and inflammation, increase blood flow, reset muscle fibers, and promote a relaxed sense of well being.

Typically acupuncture feels like a heavy dull sensation, an electrical sensation, or mild ache. The needles can also sometimes create a twitch response in local muscle groups if muscles are being rebalanced.   Many people report that while the immediate sensation can be strong, it is quickly replaced by a sense of warmth, release, and relaxation. For children or those individuals who are particularly sensitive, the use of laser light to stimulate cellular function at specific acupuncture locations can produce similar results to the needles.
