About Me
Welcome...My name is Lisa (she/her)
I am a hearty Gen Xer that was born a screaming feminist in a male-dominated home. I have known many messy moments and strive to live with humility and humour along the scenic and bumpy road we call life. I like to believe that love and laughter win.
When I am not working or sleeping, you can often find me outside enjoying the ones I love on some adventure or playing in my garden, enjoying deep and meaningful conversations with my animals, the plants, and often myself.
My mandate in life is the following:
none of us can see our own ass;
we all need each other.
It is a circle, not a ladder.
That’s where I come in.
Whether you’re navigating a tricky relationship, tackling a mountain of stress, or just trying to figure out why life doesn’t come with an instruction manual, I’m here to help. Sessions with me are a relaxed, private place for you to talk, reflect, and yes—laugh (because even in the mess, there’s room for humor).
I believe that real growth happens when you’re comfortable enough to be yourself—awkward moments, bad jokes, and all. So, let’s work together to boost your bandwidth, and turn those sad songs into a soundtrack of resilience, self-discovery, and a bit of joy.
My approach in counselling is grounded in client-centered care, trauma awareness, attachments, and resilience. I am particularly influenced by and anchored in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems, Trauma Awareness, and Somatics and am curious about the ways that generational differences can be explored through a lens of cultural sensitivity.
I am a mother to three fabulous and unique humans and a long time partner to another. I have personal and professional experience with diversity, chronic pain and health conditions, trauma, grief and loss, and women’s health, and I love to advocate for and support the people helping the people. I have worked with many individuals walking loved ones goodbye, or managing living griefs that are often unseen. In addition, I love to assist people in navigating systems.
I hold a bachelor’s science degree from the University of Victoria with a major in psychology, a Masters in Counselling, and am a registered Dr. of Traditional Chinese Medicine with the province of British Columbia. I have been in practice as a Dr. of Chinese Medicine since 1996 and am influenced by Eastern Medicine’s view of the brain as a curious organ and the reciprocity that exists between our inner and outer environments. I hold tremendous regard for the wisdom of our body and the dance between our thoughts, feelings, experiences, and potential. I have been working in holistic health care for over thirty years and continue to be humbled by the weather of life, our capacity to feel, and our resilience to grow through hard moments.
I value the messy moments in life and am passionate about normalizing our humanity with an open, honest heart and, when possible, a bit of humour.
I look forward to meeting you and walking with you.
